Dear (future) incoming students,
We are pleased that you are interested in a semester or study year abroad at the University of Klagenfurt! The following information is aimed at both students who are interested in a study-related stay within the framework of a mobility programme (e.g. Erasmus+ or Joint-Study), as well as those who have already been nominated by their home university.

Congratulations!
We are looking forward to welcoming you at the University of Klagenfurt in the near future. Once you have been nominated by your home university, the AAU’s International Office will send you further information about your study-related stay abroad at the University of Klagenfurt. In the meantime, you will find information on relevant topics below:
Application and Admission
Incoming students within the framework of Erasmus+ and Joint-Study
Incoming students within the mobility programmes Erasmus+ and Joint-Study have to be nominated by their home university via the Mobility Information System of the University of Klagenfurt (MOBIS). After the nomination has been accepted in MOBIS, you will receive further information, such as username and a link to set a password for MOBIS. Please upload your application and all necessary documents within the set deadlines.
Please note that applications must be submitted exclusively in the MOBIS database.
Application deadlines:
Winter semester: 1st of June
Summer semester: 1st of November
Joint international study programmes (Double, Multiple and Joint Degree programmes)
Incoming students in a Double, Multiple or Joint Degree programme must be nominated for the programme by their home university and will then be contacted by the University of Klagenfurt Admissions and Examinations Office regarding the further steps for admission. If you also receive an Erasmus+ or Joint-Study scholarship during your stay at the University of Klagenfurt, all documents required for these mobility programmes must be sent to the International Office.
Learning Agreement (for Erasmus+ incoming students)
Incoming students who need an Online Learning Agreement (OLA) under the Erasmus+ mobility programme (Key Action 131) can submit it via the European Dashboard platform. The International Office is responsible for the first formal review of the OLA and should be indicated as the contact person. Therefore, please always indicate incoming [dot] exchange [at] aau [dot] at as the contact e-mail address.
Semester Dates
Important dates and deadlines related to your studies at the University of Klagenfurt can be found here.
Please note that examinations might be scheduled after the official end of the courses (depending on the individual course choices).
Please note: Incoming students can only complete exams and assignments at the AAU as long as they are enrolled at AAU. For incoming students who study at AAU exclusively in the winter semester, this period ends on 31st of March (date of exmatriculation), for incoming students who (also) study at the AAU in the summer semester, this period ends on 31st of October (date of exmatriculation).
All examinations must be taken and all assignments must be submitted before this date.
First Orientation
Prior to arrival:
You will receive access to a Moodle course and a recorded introduction session with the most important information relevant for your study-stay at AAU.
In person:
The first week of the semester (Orientation Week) will start with a Check-in Session. Attendance is mandatory. A detailed schedule for the Orientation Week of the upcoming semester will be sent to you by the AAU’s International Office.

German Semester Course
Incoming student at AAU have the possibility to attend a German semester course offered by the language center “Deutsch in Österreich | German in Austria”. Attending a German semester course is not compulsory for incoming students. German language courses are not part of the general course offering and a reduced fee will be charged.
The German semester course consists of two teaching sessions (3 learning units each) per week and lasts for the whole semester lecture period. It corresponds to 9 ECTS credit points and starts at the beginning of each semester (either October or March). Course participants are placed in the appropriate class (according to their level of language proficiency) after sitting a placement test prior to the beginning of the course.
